Lessons Learned

Documenting all the nuggets of wisdom gathered outside of the traditional classroom.

Being unrecognizable in 5 years can either be a good thing or a bad thing. It doesn't depend on intent so much as actions.

You don't invest in businesses, things, or ideas... you invest in people.

It's not about avoiding risks or taking risks, it's about accurately assessing and choosing what risks to take.

The balance sheet is 1-3 the P&L is 4-6 in the chart of accounts.

Happiness is progress, not results, that baseline is ever-moving.

Did you lose that money or was it a $__ lesson?

Work in sprints (typically 90 days with frequent reflections).

Decide whether to invest based on the current state. Not the past. Not the future.

Revenue is nice, Profit is strong, Cash is king.

The agile manifesto:

-People over processes

-Products that actually work over documenting what that product is supposed to do.

-Collaborating with customers over negotiating with them.

-Responding to change over following a plan.

Time is the ultimate limiter of human endeavor.

Set up the right framework. Sweat in training is better than blood in war.
